The finest culture of pleasure. Great growths. Grandiose scenery.
Every year, now for the ninth time, our gourmet festival eat! berlin got underway. From February 20th to the 1st of March 2020, the capital experienced numerous culinary fireworks over eleven festival days: 72 events at almost as many locations and well over 100 chefs, who received more than 700 points in the Gault&Millau and 55 Michelin stars. Our eat! berlin im Kiez offerings now took place in nine Berlin districts. The wines that were served were by no means overshadowed by the food either: over 50 vintners (30 of them VDP.Weingüter) presented us with the finest selections from their cellars.
Award-winning chefs from the capital, Germany and abroad, including three-star chefs Christian Bau, Heinz Beck, Marco Müller and Dani Garcia, two-star chefs Sebastian Frank, Alexander Herrmann, Reto Lampart, Andreas Mayer, Hendrik Otto, Paco Pérez, Tim Raue, Boris Rommel and many other outstanding chefs and cooks. From the Austrian neighborhood Vitus Winkler, Cornelius Speinle from Switzerland and from France, David Rathgeber, Julien Diaz and Nicolas Gautier.
By far the longest journey was made by Roberto Cortez, Abdullah Sobah and Jeong Kwan. Cortez became known for very elaborate art dinner productions. Abdullah Sobah, the Best Chef in the Maldives, traveled to Berlin via plane from a location that is even further away. Jeong Kwan arrived from South Korea. The temple chef gained in popularity through her own episode of the Netflix series “Chefs Table”.
At the eat! berlin we do not only cook at the restaurant stove, but also in exclusive and unusual places. In 2020 for example, our cooks prepared courses at the Roten Rathaus, the Wrangelschlösschen, the Schlossparktheater, in a porcelain manufactory, at the Swiss embassy, in a former bank counter hall, in a theater tent, high over the roofs, at and on the Spree and in the beautiful Astor Film Lounge. We guaranteed four vegetarian evenings, three of them took place in Potsdam.

eat! berlin started modestly in 2011 with 400 visitors as a small series of events in Berlin’s Michelin-starred gastronomy. In 2019, we counted almost 8,500 visitors. In the meantime, the festival around Bernhard Moser has become a permanent fixture in Berlin’s gourmet and cultural scene and is also known beyond the borders of the capital. “One of the ten best gourmet festivals in the world” according to Traveller’s World luxury and travel magazine, “the most relaxed and innovative gastro festival in Europe” writes the Neue Zürcher Zeitung and also Australia’s largest travel magazine International Traveller and Yahoo Japan reported about us.
